We're starting to feel a little bad now about our uncharitable assessment of this year's AVN Awards last Saturday night; now that we've returned from Las Vegas and have (mostly) caught up on sleep, we're looking at the photos we just uploaded and are feeling a pang of wistful nostalgia for all those popping flashbulbs and exposed cleavage. Maybe the awards ceremony really weren't as overlong, tedious, and self-congratulatory as we thought it was? As if dealing with the crowds, frenetic pace, and constant threat of shoulder stink at last week's AVN Expo weren't enough to stress out anyone, Fleshbot Crush Object and internet girlfriend Dana DeArmond received the disturbing news on Friday that her apartment building in Pasadena burned down while she was in Las Vegas; inside were all her belongings including an irreplacable art collection, her clothes, her shoes, her computer and gaming equipment ... basically, her whole life. We'll be putting together a benefit auction of one-of-a-kind items donated by several of Dana's pals in the adult industry to help raise money, but in the meantime please consider donating whatever you can to help Dana and her boyfriend Daniel (who had just moved in with her a few months before the fire, and who lost all his stuff as well) get on their feet again. Anything from the equivalent of a bubble tea to a few tubes of mascara to a pair of shoes or a new Xbox or MacBook Pro would be greatly appreciated. More »
By the fourth day of the Adult Entertainment Expo, things have the sullied, tired air of a hooker on the last night of Fleet Week: all those glossy larger-than-life posters of the various major studios' contract star lineups don't seem quite as enticing as they did when we first walked beneath them a mere three days ago, and the sight of thousands of 8x10 glossies and discount strip club invites discarded and trampled underfoot by careless fans seem even more depressing than they usually do. Still, we soldiered on to bring you Fleshbot photographer Nikola Tamindzic's record of the last day of the fair: like a pornified Brigadoon with suitcase pimps and breast implants, the whole spectacle will fade into misty memory come tomorrow, not to appear again until next January. We're still sleep deprived, perpetually hung over, and subsiding on a steady diet of overpriced hotel minibar bottled water and single-serving cans of Pringles (at $5 and $3.75 respectively), but at least a lot of other folks are looking a little bedraggled too by the third day of the 2007 AVN Expo—save for the fans who lined up starting at noon, schwag bags in hand, and remained enthusiastically jostling and gropy until six this evening.
